Srinivas Ramanujan
Srinivas Ramanujan was an Indian mathematician born on December 22, 1887, in Erode, India. He showed extraordinary mathematical talent from a young age, developing original theories and formulas without formal training. His work primarily focused on number theory, continued fractions, and infinite series.
In 1913, Ramanujan sent a letter filled with his mathematical discoveries to the renowned mathematician G.H. Hardy at Cambridge University. This led to a collaboration that significantly advanced both their careers. Despite facing health challenges, Ramanujan's contributions to mathematics remain influential, and he is celebrated for his unique insights and creativity in the field.
