Spanish Peseta
The Spanish Peseta was the official currency of Spain before the country adopted the euro in 2002. It was introduced in 1869 and was subdivided into 100 centavos. The peseta played a significant role in Spain's economy for over a century, reflecting the country's historical and cultural changes.
In 2002, the euro replaced the peseta as part of a broader effort to unify European economies. The transition involved exchanging pesetas for euros at a fixed rate of 166.386 pesetas per euro. Today, the peseta is no longer in circulation, but it remains a symbol of Spain's monetary history.
