Soyuz 11
Soyuz 11 was a Soviet space mission launched on June 6, 1971. It was notable for being the first mission to successfully dock with the Salyut 1 space station. The crew consisted of three cosmonauts: Georgi Dobrovolski, Viktor Patsayev, and Valentin Vasilyev. They spent 23 days in space, conducting scientific experiments and gathering data.
Tragically, the mission ended in disaster on June 30, 1971, during re-entry. A cabin depressurization occurred, leading to the deaths of all three crew members. This incident remains the only case of human fatalities in space, highlighting the risks of space exploration.
