Soviet lunar program
The Soviet lunar program was a series of missions aimed at exploring the Moon during the 1950s and 1960s. It included several robotic spacecraft, such as the Luna series, which successfully conducted flybys, landings, and sample returns. The program was part of the broader Space Race between the Soviet Union and the United States.
One of the most notable achievements was Luna 2, which became the first human-made object to reach the Moon in 1959. The program also aimed to send humans to the Moon, leading to the development of the N1 rocket, although it ultimately did not achieve crewed lunar landings.
