Southern Appalachian Mountains
The Southern Appalachian Mountains are a segment of the larger Appalachian Mountain range, located primarily in the southeastern United States. This region includes parts of North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina. The mountains are known for their diverse ecosystems, rich biodiversity, and scenic beauty, featuring numerous peaks, valleys, and forests.
The highest peak in the Southern Appalachians is Clingmans Dome, which rises to 6,643 feet. The area is also home to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which attracts millions of visitors each year for its hiking trails, wildlife, and stunning vistas.
