South Downs AONB
The South Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is located in southern England, stretching from Winchester in Hampshire to Eastbourne in East Sussex. It covers approximately 1,600 square kilometers and features rolling hills, chalk cliffs, and picturesque villages. The area is known for its diverse wildlife and rich cultural heritage, making it a popular destination for outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling.
Designated as an AONB in 2010, the South Downs aims to protect its natural beauty and promote sustainable development. The landscape includes the iconic Seven Sisters cliffs and the historic South Downs Way, a long-distance footpath that showcases the area's stunning scenery.
