South China tiger
The South China tiger is a critically endangered subspecies of tiger native to the forests and grasslands of southern China. It is known for its distinctive orange coat with black stripes, which helps it blend into its natural habitat. This tiger is smaller than other tiger subspecies, with males weighing between 400 to 500 pounds.
Due to habitat loss, poaching, and a decline in prey, the South China tiger has not been seen in the wild since the 1990s. Conservation efforts are ongoing, focusing on breeding programs and habitat restoration to prevent its extinction and potentially reintroduce it into the wild.
