Sound Spectrum
The sound spectrum refers to the range of frequencies that sound waves can produce, typically measured in hertz (Hz). It encompasses all audible sounds, from low bass notes to high treble tones. The human ear can generally hear frequencies between 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz, with different instruments and voices producing unique combinations of these frequencies.
In audio analysis, the sound spectrum is often visualized using a graph called a spectrogram, which displays frequency on the vertical axis and time on the horizontal axis. This representation helps in understanding the characteristics of sounds, including their pitch and timbre, and is useful in fields like music production and acoustics.
