Son La Dam
Son La Dam is a large hydroelectric dam located on the Da River in Son La Province, Vietnam. Completed in 2012, it is one of the largest dams in Southeast Asia, with a total installed capacity of 2,400 megawatts. The dam plays a crucial role in generating electricity for the national grid and helps regulate water flow in the river.
The construction of Son La Dam also created a large reservoir, which covers an area of approximately 9,000 hectares. This reservoir not only supports power generation but also contributes to irrigation and flood control in the surrounding regions, benefiting local agriculture and communities.
