Soft Coral
Soft corals are marine invertebrates belonging to the class Anthozoa. Unlike hard corals, they do not produce a rigid calcium carbonate skeleton. Instead, soft corals have a flexible structure made of a protein called collagen, allowing them to sway with ocean currents. They often have vibrant colors and can be found in various marine environments, from shallow reefs to deep-sea habitats.
These corals play a crucial role in marine ecosystems by providing habitat and shelter for numerous marine species. Soft corals also contribute to the overall biodiversity of coral reefs, supporting fish, invertebrates, and other organisms that rely on these habitats for survival.
