Socket 939
Socket 939 is a CPU socket designed by AMD for its Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 X2 processors. Introduced in 2004, it supports dual-channel DDR SDRAM memory and allows for better performance compared to its predecessor, Socket 754.
This socket was popular among gamers and enthusiasts for its ability to handle dual-core processors, which improved multitasking and overall system performance. Socket 939 was eventually succeeded by Socket AM2, which introduced support for newer memory types and improved power efficiency.
