Socialist Zionism
Socialist Zionism is a political ideology that combines the principles of socialism with the goals of Zionism. It emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, advocating for the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine while promoting social justice, workers' rights, and collective ownership. This movement sought to create a society based on equality and cooperation among all its inhabitants.
Key figures in Socialist Zionism include Ber Borochov and David Ben-Gurion, who emphasized the importance of labor and agriculture in building a new Jewish society. The ideology played a significant role in the founding of the Histadrut, the General Federation of Jewish Labor, which aimed to improve the conditions of workers in the emerging Jewish state.
