Snowcock
The Snowcock is a large bird belonging to the family Phasianidae, which includes pheasants and partridges. Native to the mountainous regions of Central Asia, particularly the Himalayas and Tian Shan, these birds are well-adapted to high altitudes. They have a distinctive appearance, featuring a robust body, long tail, and a striking plumage that varies among species.
There are several species of Snowcock, including the Tibetan Snowcock and the Afghan Snowcock. These birds are primarily ground-dwelling and are known for their strong legs, which help them navigate rocky terrains. Snowcocks are also social animals, often found in small flocks, especially during the breeding season.
