Slovenian Reformation
The Slovenian Reformation was a religious and cultural movement in the 16th century that aimed to reform the Catholic Church in Slovenia. It was influenced by the broader Protestant Reformation occurring in Europe and was marked by the efforts of key figures like Primož Trubar, who translated the Bible into Slovenian and promoted literacy and education.
This movement led to the establishment of the Lutheran Church in Slovenia and encouraged the use of the Slovenian language in religious practices. Although it faced opposition from the Catholic Church, the Slovenian Reformation laid the groundwork for the development of Slovenian national identity and culture.
