Skip James
Skip James was an influential American blues musician, born on June 9, 1902, in Bentonia, Mississippi. He is best known for his unique fingerpicking guitar style and haunting vocal delivery. His music often features themes of sorrow and heartache, reflecting the struggles of life in the early 20th century.
James gained recognition in the 1930s, particularly for his songs like “Devil Got My Woman” and “Hard Time Killing Floor Blues.” Although he faded from the music scene for several decades, his work was rediscovered in the 1960s, leading to a revival of interest in Delta blues and inspiring many future musicians, including Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan.
