Skin Graft
A skin graft is a surgical procedure that involves transferring skin from one area of the body to another. This technique is often used to treat wounds, burns, or areas of skin that have been damaged due to injury or disease. The graft can be taken from the patient’s own body, known as an autograft, or from a donor, referred to as an allograft.
The main goal of a skin graft is to promote healing and restore the skin's appearance and function. After the graft is placed, it typically takes time for the new skin to integrate with the surrounding tissue. Successful grafts can significantly improve the quality of life for individuals with severe skin injuries.
