Skanda Shasti
Skanda Shasti is a Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Murugan, also known as Kartikeya, the son of Shiva and Parvati. It is celebrated over six days, typically in the month of Kartika (October-November), and honors the victory of Lord Murugan over the demon Soorapadman. Devotees engage in fasting, prayers, and special rituals during this period.
The festival culminates on the sixth day, known as Shasti, when devotees perform elaborate ceremonies and processions. Many visit temples dedicated to Lord Murugan, seeking blessings for strength, courage, and protection. Skanda Shasti is particularly significant in southern India, where it is celebrated with great fervor.
