Sirius star system
The Sirius star system is one of the brightest star systems visible from Earth, located about 8.6 light-years away in the constellation Canis Major. It consists of two main stars: Sirius A, a massive and luminous main-sequence star, and Sirius B, a faint white dwarf that was once a massive star itself.
Sirius A is about twice as massive as our Sun and is known for its brightness, making it a prominent feature in the night sky. The system's two stars orbit each other, completing a cycle approximately every 50.1 years, which contributes to its fascinating dynamics.
