Sir Sandford Fleming
Sir Sandford Fleming was a Canadian engineer and inventor, best known for his role in the development of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Born in 1827 in Scotland, he immigrated to Canada in 1845, where he contributed significantly to the country's infrastructure. Fleming also played a crucial role in the establishment of the Standard Time system, which divided the world into time zones.
In addition to his engineering achievements, Fleming was a prominent advocate for the construction of the Panama Canal. His vision and planning helped shape modern transportation and communication networks. He was knighted in 1897 for his contributions to engineering and public service.
