Sir Henry Cole
Sir Henry Cole was a British civil servant and inventor, best known for his role in the establishment of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Born in 1808, he was a key figure in promoting the arts and education during the Victorian era. Cole also played a significant role in organizing the first Great Exhibition in 1851, which showcased industrial and cultural achievements.
In addition to his contributions to museums and exhibitions, Cole is credited with creating the first commercial Christmas card in 1843. This innovation helped popularize the tradition of sending holiday greetings, influencing how people celebrate Christmas today.
