Simnel Cake
Simnel Cake is a traditional British fruitcake, typically associated with Easter. It is made with a rich mixture of dried fruits, spices, and a layer of marzipan, which is often placed in the middle and on top of the cake. The cake is usually decorated with eleven marzipan balls, representing the eleven apostles of Jesus minus Judas.
Originally, Simnel Cake was baked for Mothering Sunday, but it later became popular as an Easter treat. The cake is often enjoyed during family gatherings and celebrations, symbolizing the end of Lent and the joy of the Easter season.
