Siloam Inscription
The Siloam Inscription is an ancient Hebrew inscription discovered in 1880 in a tunnel in Jerusalem, known as the Siloam Tunnel. This tunnel was built during the reign of King Hezekiah to bring water from the Gihon Spring to the city, providing a vital water supply during sieges. The inscription describes the construction of the tunnel and the moment when the two teams of workers met.
The inscription is significant for its historical and linguistic value, as it is one of the earliest examples of Hebrew writing. It provides insight into the engineering skills of the time and the political context of the Kingdom of Judah during the 8th century BCE.
