The Silla Dynasty was one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea, existing from 57 BC to 935 AD. It is known for its advanced culture, art, and architecture, including the construction of the famous Seokguram Grotto and Bulguksa Temple. Silla was also notable for its early adoption of Buddhism, which significantly influenced its society and culture.
During its height, Silla unified the Korean Peninsula in 668 AD after defeating the rival kingdoms of Baekje and Goguryeo. The dynasty established a centralized government and promoted trade and cultural exchange with neighboring countries, including China and Japan.
