Signal Box
A Signal Box is a building used in railway operations to control train movements. It houses the equipment and personnel responsible for managing signals and switches on the tracks. Signal boxes ensure that trains run safely and efficiently by preventing collisions and coordinating the flow of rail traffic.
Typically located near railway junctions or busy stations, signal boxes are equipped with levers and electronic systems. Operators, known as signalmen, monitor train schedules and communicate with train drivers. The use of signal boxes is crucial for maintaining the safety of the railway network, especially in areas with high train frequency, such as urban centers or near railway yards.
