Sigma Baryon
The Sigma Baryon is a type of subatomic particle classified as a baryon, which means it is made up of three quarks. Specifically, Sigma baryons contain one up quark and two down quarks, or one strange quark along with other combinations. They are part of the baryon family and are denoted by the Greek letter Sigma (Σ).
Sigma baryons come in different charge states, including neutral and charged varieties, such as Σ⁺, Σ⁰, and Σ⁻. They are produced in high-energy particle collisions and play a role in understanding the strong nuclear force that binds quarks together within protons and neutrons.
