Sigatoka Sand Dunes
The Sigatoka Sand Dunes are a unique natural formation located on the southern coast of Viti Levu, the largest island in Fiji. Stretching over 60 kilometers, these dunes are a result of wind and wave action on the sandy coastline. The area is rich in biodiversity, hosting various plant species and wildlife, making it an important ecological site.
In addition to their natural beauty, the Sigatoka Sand Dunes are significant for their archaeological value. Excavations have revealed ancient artifacts and evidence of early human settlement, providing insights into the history and culture of the Fijian people. The dunes are now a protected national park, attracting visitors for both recreation and education.
