Siege of Osaka
The Siege of Osaka refers to two major battles that took place in the early 17th century during Japan's Sengoku period. The first siege occurred in 1614, when the Tokugawa shogunate sought to eliminate the power of the Toyotomi clan, who had established their stronghold in Osaka Castle. The siege ended with the castle's surrender, but the Toyotomi clan remained a threat.
The second siege, known as the Winter Siege and Summer Siege of 1614-1615, was a decisive conflict. The Tokugawa forces launched a full-scale attack on Osaka Castle, ultimately leading to its destruction. This victory solidified the Tokugawa shogunate's control over Japan and marked the end of the Toyotomi clan's influence.
