Siege Of Eger
The Siege of Eger took place in 1552 during the Ottoman-Habsburg Wars. The city of Eger, located in present-day Hungary, was defended by a small garrison led by István Dobó. The Ottomans, aiming to capture the strategically important city, laid siege with a large army, hoping to break the Habsburg control in the region.
Despite being heavily outnumbered, the defenders of Eger mounted a fierce resistance. The siege lasted for 39 days, and the defenders successfully repelled the Ottoman forces, marking a significant victory for the Habsburgs. This event is celebrated in Hungarian history as a symbol of national pride and resilience.
