Sicangu Lakota
The Sicangu Lakota are a Native American tribe that is part of the larger Lakota nation, which is one of the three divisions of the Sioux people. They primarily reside on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota. The Sicangu, also known as the "Burnt Thigh" people, have a rich cultural heritage that includes traditional practices, language, and spirituality.
Historically, the Sicangu Lakota were nomadic buffalo hunters, relying on the vast plains for sustenance. They played a significant role in the resistance against U.S. expansion during the 19th century, particularly during events like the Battle of Little Bighorn. Today, they continue to preserve their traditions while also engaging in modern economic and educational initiatives.
