Sican civilization
The Sican civilization thrived in northern Peru from around 750 to 1375 AD. Known for their advanced metalworking, particularly in gold and silver, the Sican people created intricate jewelry and ceremonial items. Their society was organized around large pyramids and complex burial practices, reflecting their beliefs in the afterlife.
The Sican are often associated with the Moche and Chimu cultures, sharing similar artistic styles and agricultural practices. Their capital, Batán Grande, served as a major center for trade and culture. The civilization declined due to environmental changes and the rise of the Inca Empire in the late 15th century.
