Sialadenitis
Sialadenitis is an inflammation of the salivary glands, often caused by infection, blockage, or autoimmune disorders. The condition can affect any of the major salivary glands, including the parotid, submandibular, and sublingual glands. Symptoms may include swelling, pain, and difficulty swallowing or opening the mouth.
Treatment for sialadenitis typically involves antibiotics if an infection is present, hydration, and warm compresses to relieve discomfort. In some cases, addressing the underlying cause, such as removing a blockage or managing an autoimmune condition, may be necessary for effective recovery.
