Salivary Gland Tumors
Salivary gland tumors are abnormal growths that occur in the glands responsible for producing saliva. These glands are located in and around the mouth and throat, with the major ones being the parotid, submandibular, and sublingual glands. Tumors can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous), and their symptoms may include swelling, pain, or difficulty swallowing.
Diagnosis typically involves imaging tests like CT scans or MRIs, and a biopsy may be performed to determine the nature of the tumor. Treatment options vary based on the type and stage of the tumor and may include surgery, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy.
