Shrews
Shrews are small, mouse-like mammals belonging to the family Soricidae. They are known for their pointed snouts, tiny eyes, and short tails. Shrews are found in various habitats, including forests, grasslands, and wetlands, and are primarily insectivorous, feeding on insects, worms, and other small invertebrates.
Despite their small size, shrews are important for the ecosystem as they help control insect populations. They have a high metabolism and must eat frequently to survive. Some species, like the European water shrew, are semi-aquatic, while others, such as the American shrew mole, are adapted to a burrowing lifestyle.
