Shirin Ebadi
Shirin Ebadi is an Iranian lawyer, human rights activist, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, awarded in 2003 for her efforts to promote democracy and human rights, especially for women and children in Iran. She was the first Muslim woman to receive the Nobel Prize, highlighting her significant contributions to social justice.
Born on June 21, 1947, in Hamadan, Iran, Ebadi became the first female judge in Iran after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Following the revolution, she faced discrimination and was forced to resign from her judicial position. Despite these challenges, she continued to advocate for human rights and founded the Defenders of Human Rights Center in Iran.
