Shiprock
Shiprock is a prominent rock formation located in northwestern New Mexico, near the town of Shiprock. Rising about 1,583 feet (482 meters) above the surrounding landscape, it is a volcanic plug formed from the remnants of an ancient volcano. The formation is characterized by its striking spire and steep cliffs, making it a notable landmark in the Navajo Nation.
The area around Shiprock is rich in cultural significance for the Navajo people, who refer to it as Tsé Bit'a'í, meaning "rock with wings." It is a popular site for photography and hiking, although climbing the formation is prohibited to respect its cultural importance.
