Shiite Muslim
Shiite Muslims, or Shia, are one of the two main branches of Islam, the other being Sunni. They believe that leadership of the Muslim community should have remained within the family of the Prophet Muhammad, specifically with his cousin and son-in-law, Ali. This belief shapes their religious practices and community structure.
The Shia community is diverse, with significant populations in countries like Iran, Iraq, and Bahrain. They celebrate unique religious observances, such as Ashura, which commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Muhammad. This event is central to their identity and faith.
