Shabanie Mine
Shabanie Mine is a former asbestos mine located in the town of Zvishavane, Zimbabwe. It was one of the largest asbestos producers in the country, operating from the 1920s until its closure in 2008. The mine played a significant role in the local economy, providing jobs and contributing to the development of the surrounding area.
The mine is known for its rich deposits of chrysotile asbestos, which was used in various construction materials and products. However, due to health concerns related to asbestos exposure, the mine's operations were halted, leading to environmental and economic challenges for the community.
