Seung Sahn
Seung Sahn was a prominent Korean Zen master known for his teachings and the establishment of the Kwan Um School of Zen. Born in 1927, he became a monk at a young age and later moved to the United States in the 1970s to share his insights on Zen practice. His approach emphasized direct experience and the importance of meditation.
He is well-known for his simple yet profound teachings, often using the phrase "Only don't know" to encourage students to let go of preconceived notions. Seung Sahn authored several books, including The Compass of Zen, which outlines his philosophy and methods for Zen practice.
