Sethian Gnosticism
Sethian Gnosticism is a branch of Gnosticism that emerged in the early centuries of Christianity. It is named after Seth, the third son of Adam and Eve, whom Sethians regarded as a divine figure. This belief system emphasizes knowledge (gnosis) as the path to spiritual salvation, viewing the material world as flawed or evil, created by a lesser deity known as the Demiurge.
Sethians often used mythological narratives to explain their beliefs, incorporating elements from Jewish and Christian traditions. They believed that through secret knowledge, individuals could transcend the material realm and reunite with the divine source, ultimately achieving spiritual enlightenment.
