Sergei Bubka
Sergei Bubka is a retired Ukrainian pole vaulter, widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes in the sport's history. Born on December 4, 1963, in Lugansk, Ukraine, he set an astonishing 35 world records during his career, including 17 outdoor and 18 indoor records. Bubka was known for his exceptional technique and strength, which allowed him to clear heights that were previously thought impossible.
Bubka's most notable achievement came at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, where he won the gold medal in pole vaulting. He also claimed six consecutive world championship titles from 1983 to 1997. After retiring from competition, Bubka became involved in sports administration and was elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee.
