Serbian Krajina
Serbian Krajina was a historical region in Croatia, primarily inhabited by ethnic Serbs. It emerged during the Yugoslav Wars in the early 1990s when tensions between different ethnic groups escalated. The area was declared a self-proclaimed Serbian Republic in 1991, leading to significant conflict and displacement.
The region's capital was Knin, which became a focal point during the war. In 1995, the Croatian military launched Operation Storm, resulting in the fall of Krajina and a large exodus of Serbs. Today, the legacy of Serbian Krajina remains a significant aspect of the complex history of the Balkans.
