Senegambia
Senegambia refers to a historical region in West Africa that encompasses parts of modern-day Senegal and The Gambia. This area is characterized by its rich cultural heritage, diverse ethnic groups, and significant trade routes along the Gambia River. The region has a long history of interaction between various communities, including the Mandinka and Wolof peoples.
The term "Senegambia" is also used to describe a political and economic union that existed between Senegal and The Gambia from 1982 to 1989. Although the union was short-lived, it aimed to promote cooperation and development between the two countries. Today, both nations maintain strong ties, sharing cultural and historical connections.
