Selva Lacandona
Selva Lacandona is a vast tropical rainforest located in the southern part of Mexico, primarily within the state of Chiapas. It is known for its rich biodiversity, housing numerous species of plants and animals, some of which are endemic to the region. The forest plays a crucial role in the local ecosystem and is part of the larger Mesoamerican Biological Corridor.
The area is also home to several indigenous communities, including the Lacandon Maya, who have lived in harmony with the forest for centuries. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect this unique environment from deforestation and other threats, ensuring its preservation for future generations.
