Selective Eating
Selective eating, often referred to as picky eating, is a behavior where individuals show a strong preference for certain foods while avoiding others. This can manifest in various ways, such as refusing to try new foods or only eating a limited variety of familiar items. Selective eating is common among children but can also persist into adulthood.
The reasons behind selective eating can vary, including sensory sensitivities, past negative experiences with certain foods, or simply personal taste preferences. While it is generally not considered a clinical disorder, it can sometimes lead to nutritional deficiencies if not managed properly.
