Secwepemc People
The Secwepemc People are an Indigenous group located in the interior of British Columbia, Canada. They are part of the larger Shuswap Nation and traditionally inhabit the region around the Thompson River and Shuswap Lake. Their culture is rich in oral history, art, and traditional practices, with a strong connection to the land and natural resources.
Historically, the Secwepemc were semi-nomadic, relying on fishing, hunting, and gathering for sustenance. They have a deep spiritual relationship with their environment, which is reflected in their customs and beliefs. Today, the Secwepemc continue to advocate for their rights and preserve their cultural heritage.
