Secwepemc Language
The Secwepemc language is an Indigenous language spoken by the Secwepemc people, primarily located in the Thompson-Shuswap region of British Columbia, Canada. It belongs to the Salishan language family, which includes several other languages spoken by Indigenous groups in the Pacific Northwest.
Secwepemc is an important part of the cultural identity of the Secwepemc Nation. Efforts are being made to revitalize the language through educational programs and community initiatives, as many younger members of the community are learning it to preserve their heritage and traditions.
