Second War of Independence
The "Second War of Independence" refers to the conflict fought by the United States against Great Britain from 1812 to 1815. This war was driven by issues such as trade restrictions, impressment of American sailors, and British support for Native American resistance against American expansion. It is often seen as a continuation of the struggle for American sovereignty that began with the American Revolutionary War.
The war included notable events like the burning of Washington, D.C. and the famous Battle of New Orleans, led by General Andrew Jackson. The conflict ended with the signing of the Treaty of Ghent, which restored pre-war boundaries but did not address the underlying issues that had caused the war.
