Sechelt Nation
The Sechelt Nation is a First Nations group located on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada. They are part of the larger Coast Salish cultural group and have a rich history that dates back thousands of years. The Sechelt people traditionally relied on fishing, hunting, and gathering for their sustenance, with a strong connection to the land and sea.
Today, the Sechelt Nation operates the Sechelt Indian Government District, which manages local governance and services for its members. They are actively involved in economic development, including tourism and natural resource management, while also preserving their cultural heritage and language through various community initiatives.
