Seahorses are small marine fish belonging to the genus Hippocampus. They are known for their unique horse-like appearance, with elongated bodies and curled tails. Seahorses typically inhabit shallow coastal waters, often found among seagrasses and coral reefs. They are slow swimmers and rely on their ability to camouflage for protection from predators. One of the most interesting features of seahorses is their reproductive process. Male seahorses carry and nurture the young in a special pouch on their abdomen. After a gestation period, the males give birth to tiny, fully formed seahorses. This unique role reversal in parenting is rare among fish.
