Scottish wildcats
The Scottish wildcat is a small, elusive feline native to the Scottish Highlands. It resembles a domestic cat but has a bushy tail, distinct stripes, and a more robust build. These wildcats are solitary animals, primarily active at dawn and dusk, and they hunt small mammals and birds.
Scottish wildcats are critically endangered, with estimates suggesting only a few hundred remain in the wild. Habitat loss, hybridization with domestic cats, and human activities threaten their survival. Conservation efforts are underway to protect these unique animals and their natural habitats in Scotland.
